Drywall Sheetrock
MASTER DRYWALL HANGING, TAPING, MUDDING & PATCHING
Drywall is the foundation of every interior room, yet it is one of the most difficult trade crafts to master. In the hands of an inexperienced contractor, bad drywall work shows immediately—bulging seams, visible screw heads, wavy corners, and uneven patches that catch ambient light. At MVM LLC, located at 2825 Bethel Church Rd in Kernersville, NC, we treat drywall installation, finishing, and repair as a refined art.
Whether you need complete new sheetrock installation for a room addition in Oak Ridge, popcorn ceiling removal in Winston-Salem, or invisible water-damage repair in Ardmore, our crew delivers mirror-smooth surfaces ready for prime and paint.
Know Your Finish
Drywall Finishing Levels Explained
Not all drywall finishes are created equal. Here is how the industry classifies finish quality, and where MVM LLC sets the bar.
Drywall Finishing Levels Explained
Level 1
Tool marks & tape embedded in mud. Used in hidden attics/plenum spaces.
Level 2
Thin coat over tape & screw heads. Used in garages/storage closets.
Level 3
Second coat over joints. Standard base for heavy hand-applied wall texture.
Level 4
Third coat feathering seams. Standard finish for flat/satin interior paint.
Level 5 (MVM Standard)
Thin skim coat applied across entire wall surface. Completely eliminates texture differences between drywall paper and joint compound.
What We Offer
Our Drywall Services
Complete Sheetrock Installation & Framing Prep
Installing drywall properly requires more than just hanging heavy boards against studs. Our crew inspects underlying wood framing with laser levels, adding shims or sistering studs where necessary to ensure flat wall planes before the first board is placed.
- 1/2-Inch Standard Sheetrock: Installed on interior residential walls and standard partitions.
- 5/8-Inch Fire-Rated (Type X) Drywall: Installed on garage ceilings, furnace rooms, and multi-family party walls for enhanced fire protection and acoustic dampening.
- Moisture-Resistant Greenboard & Cement Board: Installed in bathrooms, laundries, and tile shower backings to prevent water absorption and mold growth.
Taping, Mudding & Seamless Joint Finishing
The secret to invisible drywall joints lies in gradual feathering and patience. We embed high-strength paper tape into setting-type joint compound (“hot mud”) on all flat joints and inside corners, preventing stress cracks caused by natural house settling. We then apply two to three wide coats of lightweight finishing compound, feathering the joint edges 12 to 18 inches wide so the transition between paper and mud becomes completely invisible.
Invisible Patching & Water Damage Repair
Plumbing leaks, roof drips, trade cutouts, and door handle impacts can leave severe holes in your walls and ceilings.
- Water Damage Restoration: We cut back ruined, soft drywall to clean timber framing, inspect for hidden mold, replace damp insulation, treat studs with anti-microbial sealers, and re-sheetrock the area.
- Seamless Blending: We cut patch boards precisely, install backing blocks, tape the seams, and feather joint compound so smoothly that once painted, you cannot locate where the original wall ends and the patch begins.

POPCORN REMOVAL & TEXTURE MATCHING

Custom Wall & Ceiling Texture Matching
If your home features knock-down, orange peel, swirl, or stomp textures, matching those patterns during a patch or remodel is extremely difficult for inexperienced workers. Our craftsmen calibrate spray pressures, nozzle sizes, and compound consistencies to duplicate existing textures seamlessly.
A PERSONAL DRYWALL STORY FROM THE TRIAD
“We were called out to a lovely historic home near Bethania where a massive second-floor plaster ceiling had cracked and bowed down nearly three inches above the main staircase. Two other contractors had advised the homeowner to tear down the entire historic plaster structure—a mess that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars and generated clouds of hazardous dust.
Our lead finisher inspected the attic joists and devised a far better solution. We securely anchored structural backing boards from above, pulled the plaster back into alignment using specialized drywall washer screws into sound joists, covered the area with high-strength fiberglass scrim tape, and skim-coated the entire 20-foot ceiling with three coats of lightweight compound. We hand-sanded the surface until it was perfectly smooth and repainted it. We saved the homeowner thousands of dollars and preserved her historic ceiling without generating unnecessary demolition waste.”
